The Mission

So she did something about it. Melinda founded Roots of Giving to connect those who can help with those who need it most. She organizes food drives, coordinates donations, and works tirelessly to make sure no family in Butler goes hungry. It is not a large national organization with corporate sponsors. What We Built
Skywalker designed and developed a complete website for Roots of Giving at rootsofgiving.org. The site gives Melinda everything she needs to run her charity's digital presence independently — a public-facing website, a custom CMS, and a Stripe-powered donation system that lets supporters give the right way.
The donation system uses a cart-based approach with Stripe — not quick-pay links. Donors browse food and pantry items (eggs, dairy, meats, bread), building expenses (rent, utilities, insurance), and add them to a real cart. They choose one-time or monthly recurring giving and check out once. This is the right way to handle charity donations — one transaction, multiple items, no friction. Quick-pay links force a separate purchase for each item. We took the extra time to build it properly.
The custom CMS was built specifically for Melinda. She can log in, add news articles, create and manage events, update page content, and publish photos to the community gallery — all without ever needing a developer. The contact form is protected by Google reCAPTCHA to prevent spam.
